– DAYTIME WORKSHOPS –
Imagination Unfurled – Part One on Tuesdays with Clare Wigfall takes place in the afternoons starting from March 10th 2020 for 7 weeks. You’ll be introduced to inspirational and thought-provoking fiction by established authors and will have a chance to hone your critical skills through group discussion of these texts. This course will work you hard and provide challenges and surprises, but it also promises lots of fun and laughter.
– EVENING WORKSHOPS –
Fiction Workshop on Mondays with Rebecca Rukeyser starting March 23rd 2020. During this 7-week course, you will address the craft elements that build excellent fiction, from character, voice and tone to plot and structure. The class will involve writing prompts with the majority of it being devoted to workshopping each other’s work.
Short Story & Flash Fiction Workshop on Tuesdays with Divya Ghelani debut on April 14th 2020. This is the perfect course for those who wish to experiment and play by creating new short fiction across the course of six weeks. Participants will be offered a range of stimulus-based writing exercises to help them conjure new settings, characters, and voices.
Introduction to Fiction with Jessica Miller starts Wednesdays from April 15th. Jessica will be running a seven-week course for writers who would like to explore their ideas in fiction. Whether you’re writing prose for the first time or just need the motivation of a deadline to finish that story, the workshop will provide a supportive environment to share your writing and discover how to improve it.
The Advanced Novel Workshop on Mondays with Kate Brown starts on April 20th 2020. This is a pure workshopping group for anyone tackling a novel. You should have at least 5,000 words that you’re prepared to share and be willing to dive in and discuss other writers’ work as well as your own.
Becoming a Better Writer: Deep Reading with Michael Duzsat on Wednesdays kicks off on April 23rd 2020. Over this 7-week evening course in-depth, microscopic explorations of the best writings will allow you to reverse-engineer the means and tricks that writers have used to construct their masterpieces.
Scriptwriting Workshop on Thursdays with CJ Hopkins is a 7-week scriptwriting workshop starting May 7th 2020 for screenwriters and playwrights led by multi-award winning, internationally produced playwright CJ Hopkins (cjhopkins.com). Participants meet weekly, submit excerpts of their stage- or screenplays on a rotating schedule and receive constructive feedback and personalized mentoring in a supportive and professional setting.
– WEEKEND WORKSHOPS –
Structure & Dynamic: Finding the Right Form for your Story with Victoria Gosling is a practical two-day weekend workshop on Saturday 25th – Sunday 26th April 2020 taught by the Reader Berlin founder and author of Before the Ruins (Serpent’s Tail, 2020). The course will take a close look at the way a variety of short stories and novels have been built. Participants will leave with a variety of models they can adapt and employ to structure their fiction or non-fiction, as well as a deeper understanding of some of the elements of storytelling.
