The greatest thing about writing? Drafting! The worst thing about writing? Drafting!
Once your writing practice is up and running, nothing speeds up your development as a writer more than taking part in a workshop. By submitting work, we find out how our writing lands, where it falls wide of the mark, and develop a sense for what feedback to take on board when revising. By offering feedback, we develop a better editorial eye, and by evaluating what works and doesn’t work in our peers’ writing, we often gain vital insight into our own strengths and weaknesses.
Over seven sessions, you will have the opportunity to submit two pieces of work (up to 3000 words long) to the group. These can be self-contained stories or extracts from a longer piece of work. Each week, you will be expected to read and prepare feedback on up to four submissions. Each writer will receive written feedback from the Victoria. Expect an open, warm and supportive environment with guidelines to ensure you get the most out of the experience.
